Delete Your deariary Account

This page explains how to delete your deariary account and the data associated with it. It applies to the deariary web app (app.deariary.com) and the deariary Android app, both provided by deariary.

Delete your account in the web app

  1. Sign in at app.deariary.com.
  2. Open You → Account → Delete account.
  3. Type DELETE to confirm, then select Permanently delete.

Delete your account in the Android app

  1. Open the deariary app and go to the You tab.
  2. Under Account, tap Delete account.
  3. Type DELETE to confirm, then tap Permanently delete.

If you subscribed through Google Play, cancel the subscription in Google Play first. Deleting your account does not cancel a Google Play subscription.

Request deletion by email

If you cannot sign in, email support@deariary.com from the email address registered to your account, with the subject "Account deletion request". We may ask you to confirm that the account is yours before we process the request.

What happens after you request deletion

  • 30-day grace period: Your account is scheduled for deletion 30 days after your request. Until then your account and data stay as they are, but no new diary entries are generated. We send you an email when the request is received and a reminder 3 days before deletion.
  • Cancel at any time during the grace period: Open Delete account in Settings on the web or in the Android app and select Cancel deletion request, or email support@deariary.com.
  • Permanent deletion: Once the grace period ends, your account and data are permanently deleted, and we send you a confirmation email. Deleted data cannot be recovered.

Before you delete your account, you can export your diary entries in Markdown + YAML format from You → Account → Data export in the web app.

What is deleted

  • Your account, profile, and public profile
  • All diary entries (published and drafts), weekly and monthly summaries, tags, and share links
  • Connected integrations, their credentials, and the data collected from them
  • Events, photos, and other media sent from the mobile app or added manually
  • Notifications, API keys, webhook endpoints, preferences, and data exports
  • Subscription and billing data stored by deariary

What is kept

  • Payment records: Records of payments and subscription events we received from our payment providers (Stripe, and Google Play through RevenueCat), and the customer record held by Stripe, are retained to meet our accounting and legal obligations.
  • Waitlist sign-ups: If you joined our waitlist before creating an account, that sign-up is separate from your account. Email support@deariary.com to have it removed.

Subscriptions

  • Web (Stripe): Your plan stays active during the grace period and is canceled automatically when your account is permanently deleted. To stop billing earlier, cancel your plan from the Billing tab before you request deletion.
  • Google Play: Deleting your account does not cancel a Google Play subscription. Cancel it in Google Play.
