Track your gaming sessions and achievements

Overview

The Steam integration connects to the Steam Web API using your Steam ID and collects your recently played games, session durations, and achievement unlocks. This data enriches your daily diary with a record of your gaming activity.

Use cases

Automatically logs which games you played and for how long each day
Records achievement unlocks and gaming milestones
Adds gaming context alongside your work and social activity in your diary

Data collected

Owned games — name, total playtime, and playtime delta since last snapshot
Achievements — achievement name, game, and unlock timestamp
Daily summary — number of games played, total minutes, achievements unlocked

Playtime deltas are computed from daily snapshots. Only games with playtime changes are reported. No purchase or financial data is collected.

HELLDIVERS 2 — 45 minutes (38 hours total). Unlocked "Hell Bent".

Stardew Valley — 20 minutes (214 hours total). No new achievements.

3 games, 3 hours 45 minutes total. 4 new achievements across 2 titles.

Setup

Click "Connect" and sign in with your Steam account via OpenID. Your Steam ID is detected automatically. Make sure your Steam profile and game details are set to public. Your recently played games and player summary will be collected automatically.

Permissions

Steam OpenID 2.0 — You sign in via steamcommunity.com. deariary never sees your Steam password.

Steam Web API — Read-only access via server-side API key. Uses IPlayerService/GetOwnedGames and ISteamUserStats/GetPlayerAchievements. Your Steam account credentials are never stored.
